Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced to acquire Secure Islands – an Israeli startup – in a $150-million deal; this is the company’s fifth Israeli acquisition in calendar year 2015 (CY15). According to the recent development, Secure Islands’ security technology will merge with the software giant’s Azure Right Management Service.

In September, Microsoft announced its Adallom acquisition, which was followed by buyouts of three security startups – N-Trig, Equivio, and Aorato. The company’s security offerings are used by several big firms, which include UBS, Credit Suisse, and Vodafone. These help them protect every type of data globally.
Previously, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella mentioned his intention to create a highly diversified and intelligent cloud platform. He also talked about investing heavily in key areas that will play an important role in this new strategic direction.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced to acquire Secure Islands - an Israeli startup - in a $150-million deal; this is the company's fifth Israeli acquisition in calendar year 2015 (CY15). Secure Islands has been around since 2006 and has raised $11.1 million to-date. "Businesses continue to face challenges protecting their data in a world where information travels beyond the boundary of the corporate network and across many devices outside company control". Numoto explains the Secure Islands acquisition will improve Microsoft's ability to secure data across on-premise systems and cloud services beyond Azure, including Office 365, third-party services, and iOS, Android, and Windows platforms. Secure Islands is the third Israeli security company Microsoft has acquired since November 2014. These realities make it more critical than ever to have solutions that prevent data loss and track information regardless of where it resides. Global customers, such as UBS, OSRAM, Vodafone and Credit Suisse, use Secure Islands technology to protect data at each stage of the information lifecycle, from creation to sharing. By joining Microsoft, we will be able to extend and expand our vision. Once complete, Microsoft plans to integrate Secure Islands' technology into its Azure Rights Management Service, which performs the same functions, more or less. "The company has always been a close Microsoft partner and built its solutions using our rights management technology".
